The name for our clinic came in January of 2018 when Dr. Brittany Albritton was snowboarding and got hit from behind by a fellow snowboarder. At the time, she was devastated! She knew right away her ACL was torn. The expense of surgery, time away from work, and the idea of needing months of rehab before things were back to normal was all too much to handle. Being self-employed and having terrible insurance at the time led her to the decision of forgoing ACL reconstructive surgery, knowing the expenses she would acquire. The decision was made to PRESCRIBE PHYSICAL THERAPY as her course of treatment. With the help of a physical therapist and dedication to completion of her rehab program she was able to return to working out five months later and avoid surgery!
Surgery is not always the right decision!! If you’re experiencing musculoskeletal pain and surgery is an option it is worth speaking to a physical therapist first. Once surgery occurs, the scars and changes are permanent. Physical therapy can help to delay or in some cases completely heal an injury that might traditionally have called for surgery. Make the right financial and logical decision for yourself, but here at Rx PT we believe in PRESCRIBING PT.
